Now, once that occurs John, after the description of the great white throne judgment, beautifully describes the new heavens and the new earth beginning in Revelation chapter Revelation, chap verse 1: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.   We also know that the current heavens and earth (as referred to in Genesis ) will be destroyed and replaced with new heavens and a new earth “where righteousness dwells” (2 Peter –13). The new heavens and earth are the eternal home for the believer. The imagery in Revelation 21—22 seems to point to Eden-like conditions.

The New Earth is an expression used in the Book of Isaiah ( & ), 2 Peter, and the Book of Revelation in the Bible to describe the final state of redeemed humanity.

It is one of the central doctrines of Christian eschatology and is referred to in the Nicene Creed as the world to come. The creation of the new heavens and new earth brings the promise that God “will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Revelation ).

This event comes after the tribulation, after the Lord’s second coming, after the millennial kingdom, after the final rebellion, after the final judgment of Satan, and after the Great White Throne Judgment. Winner of the Word Guild Award for best book in Biblical Studies ().

In recent years, more and more Christians have come to appreciate the Bible's teaching that the ultimate blessed hope for the believer is not an otherworldly heaven; instead, it is full-bodied participation in a new heaven and a new earth brought into fullness through the coming of God's by: 3.

The idea of new heavens and a new earth is explicitly noted in Isaiah ; ; 2pe ; and Revelation The Old Testament has no term that directly translates as "universe"; the phrase "heavens and earth" was the Hebrew way of referring to the universe they knew.

This imagery is set in prophetic-apocalyptic texts that hold forth future hope for a redeemed world that transcends the. John first described the new creation as a marriage of heaven and earth.

Heaven is represented as both a city and a bride, coming down out of God’s heavenly domain and landing on earth, much like the staircase Jacob saw in his dream. John called the city-bride a “new Jerusalem.”Author: The Bible Project.

A New Heaven and a New Earth: Reclaiming Biblical Eschatology is a current topic of discussion among biblical and theological scholars (at the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature). At the risk of oversimplifying a carefully researched and insightful volume, A New Heaven and a New Earth: Reclaiming Biblical Eschatology seems to have two primary themes/5.

In The New Heaven and the New Earth, the completion of his trilogy with Planetary Transformation and The New Planetary Reality, Imre Vallyon explains the inner causes of the coming planetary changes (the New Heaven) and how the changes will play out in real- world events (the New Earth), depending on whether humanity responds to them correctly or not.

The present heavens and earth, stained by human sin and the curse it incurs, will “wear out” and “be changed” (Heb. ), shaken and removed (). For the first heaven and earth, no “place” will be found, but in their stead a new heaven and a new earth will appear (Rev.

; ). looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat. But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Just as our present environment is called heaven and earth (we draw our sustenance from the air and land), even so, our future state of being is figuratively called a “new heaven and new earth.” Actually.

In our preaching through the Bible for these many years, we have come to the last and the climactic book: the Revelation. The heavens and earth will pass away with a great noise, the elements will dissolve with fervent heat, and the earth and its works shall be consumed (2 Pet. ,12). Third, after the Judgment, there will be the “new heavens and new earth.” Notice what Peter did not say.

He did not say that the earth would be refurbished to. 1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
