An interesting history of Bent's Fort, the Santa Fe Trail, New Mexico, and the American west & southwest. This book is fairly old, written inbut I thought it covered the subject well. I have visited the reconstructed Bent's Old Fort and was curious about the by: Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site features a reconstructed s adobe fur trading post on the mountain branch of the Santa Fe Trail where traders, trappers, travelers, and the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes came together in peaceful terms for trade.

Today, living historians recreate the sights, sounds, and smells of the past with guided. This is a book for serious history buffs. Since Bents Fort was an important focal point to the trading done in the SW, I think you can say this is a history of business along the Santa Fe Trail and the surrounding territory.
